Australien — The ACT’s bushfire season has been extended by a month as hot, dry weather continues to affect the region.

The Emergency Services Authority says it has reviewed the risk and decided to stay on high alert until April 30.

Jeff Lucas, who manages the Rural Fire Service in areas surrounding Canberra, says the bushfire danger period has also been extended.

“With those dry conditions we still need to be on our guard and with our volunteer firefighters as well as the public need to be on our guard to deal with any incidents as they arise,” hesaid.
