South Africa — A second helicopter has been brought in to assist in combating several veld fires that are raging in the Western Cape.
Fransuliene Bosch, the rescue co-ordinator, says no property is being threatened, but firefighters are struggling to control three of the five blazes.
These include a fire at a Grabouw farm in the Overberg region, another in Bainskloof near Wellington and one in the mountains at Stanford near Hermanus.
Other fires at Sir Lowry’s pass between Grabouw and Somerset-West and Bainskloof have been contained. A strong wind is fanning the flames.
