A total fire ban has been declared for another area of NSW – the upper central western plains and lower central western plains.

The ban – taking in Coonamble, Cobar, Nyngan, Dubbo, Condobolin and Parks – prohibits anyone from lighting fires between 7 am (AEDT) on Tuesday morning and midnight on Tuesday evening.

Rural Fire Service Commissioner Phil Koperberg said the ban was issued after assessing the current fire and weather conditions.

A total fire ban is already in force for the Greater Hunter area.

NSW firefighters are struggling to contain some 27 fires across the state before the weather heats up again this weekend.
