CHINA — A forest fire broke out Wednesday morning in Hulun Buir City of north China’s Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, local authorities said.
By press time, no casualties have been reported.
The fire occurred near Hongyan Town, an area covered with thick springwood of birch and pastures. The fire was reported spreading an area of over 20 square kilometers.
Local government has sent approximately 498 people, including 258 forest police, to put out the fire. However, fire fighting was very difficult because of strong winds.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
