A new regional forest fire research center at Colorado State University willstudy how to restore forests after wildfires.
The center is a outgrowth of the federal Southwest Forest Health and WildfirePrevention passed by Congress last year.
Bill Romme, a CSU professor of forest ecology, said funding for the newinstitute will be announced this fall. He said CSU was chosen because of itsexperience with forest science research.
