The study of wildland fire management through Humboldt State Universitys Department of Forestry and Watershed Management recently received hot news the new curriculum options initial accreditation by the Society of American Foresters.
The option serves those seeking careers in managing wildland fires, fire ecology and related fields. Typical courses include fire behavior and suppression, wildland fire use, and fuels management.
The Forestry Departments long-established academic trails focusing on resource management, conservation, production and hydrology already hold SAF accreditation.
The forestry departments SAF accreditation expires in 2013.
