There is still a long way to go for Nelson firefighters battling a massive forest fire.
Around 30 people have been working overnight to control the blaze which started on Friday in Carter Holt Harvey’s forest in the Wairoa and Lee Valleys.
Around 250 hectares have been destroyed.
Forestry spokesman Devon McLean says says bulldozers will be used to dig out burning logs and douse hotspots. He says there is still a lot of work to be done and it may be next week before the fire is fully extinguished.
