Civil Defense Worker Tries to Contain aForest Fire in Nicaragua

Some 3,000 mil hectares of pine forests have been lost to fires for more thanone week in the area of El Palmar-Bayuncun, Ocotal, some 280 miles north fromManagua.
The fires have expanded quickly towards the border with Honduras, as membersof the Army, supported by technicians of the National Forest Institute and theMinistry of Environment and Natural Ressources struggle to contain them.
