Between 30 March and 3 April 2004 the ECE / FAO / ILO Conference on Forest Fire Management and International Cooperation in Fire Emergencies in The Eastern Mediterranean, Balkans and Adjoining Regions of the Near East and Central has been held in Antaly, turkey, hosted by the government of Turkey.

 

 

On 1 April 2004 the participating countries Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Israel, Italy, Kazakhstan, Macedonia, Poland, Russian Federation, Turkey, Ukraine, together with representatives of the ECE, FAO, ISDR Global Wildland Fire Network and the Global fire Monitoring Center (GFMC) released a declaration that is calling for strengthening international cooperation in wildland fire management in the region.
