A bushfire approaches houses at Fairy Bower near Manly on Sydney’s north shore during a controlled burn-off November 13, 2003.
Fire fighters are taking the opportunity to conduct burn offs to reduce the amount of combustible undergrowth in bushland near homes ahead of what fire officials expect to be a dangerous summer fire season.
