Deadly veld fire rages through KwaZulu-Natal

Another two casualties have been reported from theveld fire near Greytown in KwaZulu-Natal on Wednesday evening, bringing thedeath toll to nine, police said.
Director Bala Naidoo said seven people, six of them children, were killed intheir house at Igogo near Greytown when they were overcome by a runaway veldfire early on Wednesday evening.
Around 7pm four occupants of a Volkswagen Golf were overcome by smoke.
Two burned to death while the other two were taken to a hospital in the regionin a serious condition.
The fire apparently started in the Majuba Pass.
Naidoo said the fire was brought under control around 8pm but the cause of theblaze was not known. – Sapa
