Definition and Creation of a Common Knowledge Base for Forest Fires
The DELFI Project
The aim of the DELFI Project is to organise and disseminate existing knowledge on forest fires, aiming to bridge the gap between researchers and users. The objectives of the project are to:
- create a common vocabulary on forest fire terms
- review past and on-going EC projects on forest fires and related technologies and present state-of-the-art
- strengthen the exchange of knowledge between European researchers
- increase multi-disciplinarity of approach
- promote results and tools of European researches
- identify areas of further research
If your work is related to aspects of forest fires, you are invited to join the DELFI network and inform us of your research work or of your fire management needs. Please refer to the attached form for details.

The DELFI Booklet
A booklet will be published including the main findings of the action, reviews on the State of the Art on research and equipment, addresses and contract points.
The DELFI Newsletter
There will be three Newsletters that will be published in the context of the DELFI action and will be distributed to the members of the DELFI network.

The Environment & Climate Programme
This action is funded by the Environment & Climate programme which continues to structure European environmental research by RTD projects and networks of excellence in the following four areas:
- Research into the natural environment, environmental quality and global change
- Environmental technologies
- Space technology applied to Earth observation and environmental research
- Human dimensions of enviromnental change
