For the following six main regions (Eurasia, Asia-Pacific, Africa, South America, Mesoamerica and North America) fire statistics have been collected through various sources. It must be noted, however, that in the overview tables no specific remarks are contained which may clarify the numbers given in the table. In many countries the numbers refer only to managed forests or plantations and do not contain data on savannas, grasslands and agricultural fires.
