GFMC and the UN System

ISDR and the UNECE/FAO Team of Specialists on Forest Fire
UN International Strategy for Disaster Reduction (UNISDR)
The GFMC has been established in 1998 as a contribution of Germany to the UN International Strategy for Disaster Reduction (UNISDR) (and its predecessor arrangement, the International Decade for Natural Hazards Reduction – IDNDR). In 2001, the GFMC was appointed member of the Inter-Agency Task Force for Disaster Reduction (IATF) and served as coordinator of the Working Group on Wildland Fire until 2003. Since 2003 the GFMC is in charge of coordination of the UNISDR Wildland Fire Advisory Group (WFAG) and the Global Wildland Fire Network (GWFN):

UNECE/FAO Team of Specialists on Forest Fire
The Team of Specialists on Forest Fire was created in the early 1980s and reorganized in 1993 under the leadership of the GFMC until its phasing out in 2014.
