Early Warning and monitoring of wildfires are conducted by a number of institutions inside and outside the Australasian region. A number of key facilities are listed that provide near-real-time or periodic regional situation updates. These can be used to access detailed national/subregional wildland fire information:
Victoria Country Fire Authority (CFA)
Most of CFA’s overall activity involves responding to incidents and suppressing fires. A large proportion of CFA’s budget is spent on infrastructure, and planning and maintaining incident response and management capability. CFA responds to a variety of fire and emergency incidents including wildfires. CFA website: https://www.cfa.vic.gov.au/home
In New Zealand, the National Rural Fire Authority (NRFA) is responsible for coordinating the rural fire management activities. These activities include, among other, regional rural fire control, rural fire management training, and monitoring fire danger conditions throughout the country.
