Australia — Fire authorities are trying to bring a large bushfire between Pinjarra and Dwellingup, about 85 kilometres south of Perth, under control.

About 160 firefighters worked through the night to try to contain the blaze, which has so far burnt through almost 4,000 hectares of bushland.

It also forced the evacuation of about 50 people from camping grounds near Marrinup.

Tim Foley from the Department of Environment and Conservation says while the fire is not threatening any homes at this stage, residents should be prepared.

“Just certainly be mindful about preparing their properties,” he said.

“If they’re going to stay on their properties, or if they’re going to leave, to think about leaving before things may hot up. But at this stage we’re still working oncontainment.”
