South Africa — A firefighter has been badly burnt while trying to contain ablaze at Phillippi on the Cape Flats.

Six fire trucks and 30 fire fighters weredispatched to the area. Emergency Services say a veld caught alight and the firespread to a nearby scrap yard, destroying a building.

Meanwhile, three helicopters with water buckets are trying to contain a hugevegetation fire raging at Constantia Neck near Hout Bay.

Several fire trucks andground crew have also been dispatched to the scene.

The Cape Town Fire Servicesays no houses or property are in danger at this stage.
