This image captured by the Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) on NASA’s Terra satellite, shows the smoke of several fires that are ravaging the Canadian boreal zone streaming south. The red dots are points of unusual high temperature. The upper image is a detail active fire area.

On early July 2014, dry fuels and lightings unleashed 164 blazes that have burned more than 400.000 hectares, a home and triggered hundreds of evacuations. The smoke plume is so long that it reached the North-Western territoried of USA.
