Having burned an estimated 8,733 acres, theJesusita Fire in the Los Padres National Forest north of Santa Barbara, California, was about 95 percent contained on 15 May 2009. This natural-color image from theAdvanced Land Imager on NASAs Earth Observing-1 (EO-1) satellite shows the burned area on 13 May 2009. The marine clouds that hid the city from view duringa previous overpass had cleared by this time, and the encroachment of the blaze into the outskirts of the Santa Barbara is obvious.
