This GOES-11 satellite image taken at 1600 UTC on 13 October 2008, shows a narrow plume of light extending 165 km to the southwest of a fire in the San Francisco Bay area. Moderate to heavy smoke from the Marek Fire in Los Angeles County extended west southwest over the Pacific for 260 km.
