Locations of fires are outlined in red, and dark brown burn scars make geometric shapes across the surrounding, beige (fallow) landscape. The fires may be to prepare the farmland for spring planting of corn, which often begins in mid-April in the region. Green areas in the left side of the scene may be winter wheat.
