Fires in New Mexico

Heat signatures (red) and smoke plumes (light blue haze) are visible fromfires burning in New Mexico. The Peppin Fire (45% contained) has burned 44 000acres in Lincoln National Forest. This information is from the NationalInteragency Fire Center’s Incident Management Situation Report from 04 June2004. Red areas on the left of the image are due to solar heating of the ground.
