Fires in Mexico

Numerous fires were burning in southern Mexico across a broad swath that spanned the Pacific to the Altantic Coast at the latitude of Lake Chapala, which glints brightly in the Sun to the southwest of image center. This image of the fires, which are marked in yellow, was captured by the Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) on NASA’s Terra satellite (Source: Earth Observatory).
