Fires in northern South America and the Caribbean
Fires in northern South America and the Caribbean
16 February 2004
The following MODIS scenes show fires burning in northern South America on 15 February 2004. Red dots probably indicate land use fires, and a marked difference can be observed between the Llanos, where fire intensity is high, and the mountain regions of Guayana, where fires are clearly less.
Fires are also observed in the Caribbean, specifically in Cuba, Haiti and Dominican Republic.
