Fires in northern South America

11 February 2004

The following MODIS scenes show fires burning in northern South America on 10 February 2004. Red dots probably indicate land use fires, and a marked difference can be observed between the Llanos, where fire intensity is high, and the mountain regions of Guayana, where fires are clearly less.
