On 4 January a wildfire burned at Villiersdorp, Western Cape.
The fire consumed 3000 hectars of Fynbos vegetation in the Hottentots Holland Mountains Nature Reserve.
Two helicopters and two hotshot crews of the Working on Fire Program (WoF) were deployed to that fire. A weather change on 5 January helped to contain the fire.
