In West Africa, biomass burning continues in late February. This image from 27February 2003, captured by the ModerateResolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) on the Aquasatellite shows fires (red dots) detected by MODIS. Countries shown are(clockwise from top right) Mali, Ivory Coast, Liberia, Sierra Leone, Guinea,Guinea-Bissau, Senegal, and Gambia.
