Firesin Eastern Africa Near Lake Victoria
North of Lake Victoria (bottom left) scores of fires were burning in easternAfrica on 09 April 2003. The fires were detected by the ModerateResolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) on the Terrasatellite and are marked with red dots in this true-color image.
