Firesin West Africa The West Africa biomass burning season that began in November 2002 is stillunderway in late March 2003. This true-color ModerateResolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) image from the Aquasatellite on 24 March 2003, shows scores of fires heavily concentrated in SierraLeone, with other fires scattered across Guinea (top) and Liberia (bottomright). The high-resolution image provided above is 500 meters per pixel. TheMODIS Rapid Response System provides this image at MODIS maximum spatialresolution of 250meters.
