Heat signatures (red) and smoke (light blue haze) are visible from a fireburning on the big island of Hawaiiin this ModerateResolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) image from the Aqua satellite. Image from 12 March 2003. A false-colorimage of the same scene reveals burn scars from other fires to the east inbright red against surrounding vegetation.
