On 26 February 2003, the ModerateResolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) instrument on the Terrasatellite captured an image of scattered fires burning across central SouthAmerica. Most of the fires (red dots) are in Argentina (left), Paraguay (center),and southern Brazil (upper right). The high-resolution image provided above is500 meters per pixel. The MODIS Rapid Response System provides this image atMODIS maximum spatial resolution of 250meters.
