Heat signatures (red) are visiblefrom fires burning in parts of southeast Queensland (Australia) in thisMODIS (ModerateResolution Imaging Spectroradiometer) image from 08 January 2003.Some of the red area visible may be due to solar heating of the ground surface.The region has suffered from severe drought conditions over past few month.
