Australia — Firefighters in Victoria’s Gippsland region arepreparing themselves for a horror day, with a combination of high winds andextreme temperatures expected.

A number of townships remain under threat and evacuations are continuing.

Flames have come within one and a half kilometres of Bruthen and fire spottedonto properties at Tambo Crossing.

Residents at Ensay, Brookville and Doctors Flat have been warned to expect emberattack.

Fire crews have been conducting backburning and strengthening control lines,where possible.

Extra firefighters from interstate and overseas have been deployed to the region,as well as additional aircraft.
