The European Forest Fire Information System (EFFIS) supports the services in charge of the protection of forests against fires in the EU countries and provides daily maps of latest fire activities and fire perimeters:

A Centre of Excellence for Earth Observation based monitoring of Natural Disasters in South-eastern Europe has been established in the National Observatory of Athens (NOA). The center has already launched two fire products: 1) the Fire Monitoring Service which provides real time access to generated information on fires occurrence every 5-minutes all over Greece and 2) a fully automated processing chain for diachronic mapping of burned areas over Greece.

TheGerman Remote Sensing Data Center (DFD) of the German Aerospace Center (DLR)offers a new operational service on fire detection from space. Based on data ofthe NASA owned MODIS sensors on board of the Terra-1 and Aqua-1 satellites wildlandfires can be detected:

TheRemote Sensing Laboratory of Valladolid University (Laboratorio de Teledetecciónde la Universidad de Valladolid), Spain, provides public operationalinformation on fires detected from space in some countries of Europe and NorthAfrica. Access to 15-minutes update information on fires in Spain is restricted:
