Fires and Smoke Haze over India

At the end of the dry season a large number of fires are observed in the subcontinent of India. The emissions of these fires mix with emissions from fossil-fuel burning, notably traffic and coal-fired powerplants and the use of coal in households. Satellite images show fire activities and total aerosol emissions (see below). For more details on total emissions and emissions transport: see website of the Indian Ocean Experiment (INDOEX).
