Forest Fires in France

On 21 June 1999 the German Press Agency dpa (Deutsche Presse-Agentur GmbH) reported that on Monday trees and bush premise have been destroyed by the first forest fires of this year in the South of France on several hundred hectares. In the municipality Cotignac 250 hectares of woods stand in flames. About 300 fire fighters and a dozen of airtankers fought against the flames. The mistral supported the fire with an intense windblow.
