Forest fires in the town of El Escorial, near Madrid, were brought under control. Thousands of people were evacuated when the fires broke out on Friday. Several hundred firefighters worked hard on Saturday to prevent the fire from spreading. No civilian was harmed but authorities were forced to evacuate residents, however, five firefighters were slightly injured. The reason for the fire ignition isn’t known at the moment.
Due to the dry, hot summer the threat of forest fires is high in Spain at this time.
