The NOAA/AVHRR satellite images below reflect the overall fire situation in Central America as it was highlighted in the GFMC reports during the last weeks (starting with the Honduras fire report on 31 March 2000).

Numerous heat signatures (red) are visible from fires burning in Central America. Most of the heat signatures are located on the western side of the Yucatan peninsula. Heavy clouds cover much of Guatemala and Belize. Additional fires may be burning beneath the cloud cover.
