Forest Fires in Central America

The GOES-8 satellite images of 20 and 21 April 2000 reflect the overall fire situation in Central America as it was highlighted in the GFMC reports during the last weeks (starting with the Honduras fire report on 31 March 2000). Heat signatures and smoke can be seen from the larger fires burning in Central America.

Heavy dense smoke ( light tan) from the fires burning in Guatemala is blowing across the Peninsula and forming a plume over the Gulf of Mexico.
