The GOES-8 satellite image of 12 April 2000 reflects the overall fire situation in Central America as it was highlighted in the GFMC reports during the last days (starting with the Honduras fire report on 31 March 2000). Heat signatures (dark red spots) can be seen from fires burning in the northern areas of the Yucatan Penisnsula/Mexico and in Guatemala. Several heat signatures are also visible in other areas of Central America.
