The NOAA AVHRR satellite images of 5 April 2000 reflect the overall fire situation in Central America as it was highlighted in the GFMC reports on 31 March, 1 April, 4 April, 5 April and 6 April 2000. Todays images show heat signatures (dark red) from fires in Yucatan Peninsula/Mexico (left image). Clouds cover the major fire areas previously observed in Guatemala. The right image displays burning areas in Honduras, Nicaragua, and El Salvador. Also here clouds cover the major fire areas previously observed in Guatemala.
