Forest Fires in Central America

4 April 2000


The NOAA AVHRR satellite imagery of 3 April 2000 reflects the overall fire situation as it was highlighted in the report from Honduras (displayed on this website on 31 March 2000). The image shows active fires burning in Yucatan (México) and Guatelama, Honduras and Nicaragua. The majority of fires are land-use fires in the lowlands, but also in the mountain zone of Guatemala and Nicaragua.
