The Bonanza Creek Long Term Ecological Research Program and the InternationalBoreal Forest Research Association (IBFRA) announce an international scienceconference on “Climate-Disturbance Interactions in Boreal Forest Ecosystems”to be held in Fairbanks, Alaska 3 – 7 May 2004 at the Fairbanks PrincessRiverside Lodge.

  • Deadline for Submission of Abstracts: November 1, 2003
  • Notification to Authors: December 19, 2003
  • Conference Dates: May 3  7, 2004
  • Submission of Papers for Publication: September 1, 2004

Abstract Submission
A call for abstracts is currently underway.

Submissions for both verbal and poster presentations will be published in aProgram and Abstracts publication to be issued to delegates during conferenceregistration. In addition, we anticipate selected papers will be published asconference proceedings in an international, peer-reviewed scientific journalwithin the year following the conference.

Scientific and Editorial Reviews All abstracts will be reviewed for scientificcontent by members of the conference Publications Committee. A committee memberwill contact the author directly to discuss any questions or discrepancies, andensure any required changes are made. Author should be prepared to make neededrevisions on short notice. Failure to respond in a timely manner could result inthe abstract not being printed.

Following content review, abstracts will be edited for spelling, grammar,punctuation, and to ensure they conform to length requirements. Authors (orpreviously-designated alternate) will be sent their revised abstract to review,with a very short deadline to reply. Again, failure to respond in a timelymanner could result in the abstract not being printed.

* Note: In the case of multiple authorship, all correspondence will be with thefirst author listed, or a previously-designated alternate.
First-listed author or designee’s submission of final, approved version willconstitute legal permission for IBFRA to publish as per above.
Submission Deadline Please ensure all abstracts are received by the Chair of theProgram Committee no later than Nov. 1, 2003. Earlier submissions areencouraged. How and Where to Submit Abstracts should be submitted directly tothe Chair of the Program Committee (ffadm@uaf.edu)in electronic form as email attachments. Microsoft Word documents (.doc) andplain text (.txt) are acceptable file formats. Format and Style Abstracts shouldbe results oriented; very briefly state the main objectives and methodology ofthe research being reported, then discuss the results and indicate principalconclusions. Focus on the work being reported, omitting phrases such as,”This presentation will …”.
