RISK REDUCTION & MANAGEMENT

The objectives of the conference are to share scientific knowledge and practical experience concerning measures required in dealing with forest fires prevention and ecological rehabilitation under climate change, including offering a scientific ground for policy making.
The organization of the conference is led by the Israeli Ministry of Environmental Protection in cooperation with the Jewish National Fund (KKL) in the frame of the CIRCLE 2 ERA Network, and the Global Fire Monitoring Center (GFMC). Venue of the conference: Nir Etzion, Mount Carmel, near Haifa.
Structure of the conference:
Day 1: Sharing of Scientific Knowledge
- Climate change and forest fires
- Forest fire management
- Post fire ecological assessment & rehabilitation
- Knowledge gaps and research needs
Day 2: From Science to Policy and from Policy to Practice
Based on the scientific knowledge presented, policy makers and academicians will meet to discuss policy and practices, covering:
- Forest fire prevention
- The role of community engagement in forest fire management
- Technologies and innovative approaches in fire management
Day 3: Professional Field Tour
- Study tour to Mount Carmel Forests
- Learning from international experience
