5-7 October 2010 Kitchener/Waterloo, Ontario, Canada
The Wildland Fire Canada 2010 conference will be held in Kitchener/Waterloo Ontario, 5-7 October 2010 for the Wildland Fire Canada 2010. This is the inaugural conference in what we envision becoming a biennial event focused on forest fire management in Canada. The unique program will provide a balance between presentations from forest fire managers and the scientific community. The goal is to provide a venue for fire managers to exchange best practices with other fire managers and communicate emerging needs and issues to scientists while at the same time providing an opportunity for scientists to present new research and models directly to forest fire managers as well as other scientists from a number of disciplines.
The Kitchener/Waterloo venue is well suited to host this event; it is in the centre of a southern Ontario ecological prescribed fire belt where literally hundreds of small scale ecologically purposed prescribed fires have been conducted over the past 20 years. Additionally it is the centre of Germanic culture in Canada and annually hosts the largest Oktoberfest celebration outside of Germany (editorial note: well appreciated by GFMC, as readers know we are based in Germany).
If you are a forest fire manager looking to establish or enhance your network throughout the Canadian fire management community, to share best practises, ideas, or innovative approaches, or are seeking to raise important research needs to the scientific community then this conference is for you.
If you are a scientist looking for a venue to present recent research results to other scientists and fire managers, to understand emerging issues and needs of fire management in Canada, or to interact with on-the-ground forest fire management practitioners .then this conference is for you Please mark these dates in your calendar and keep checking back at this website for updates on program, venue ..or alternatelyjoin our mailing list to receive email updates automatically.
