Fire and Restoration in Boreal Forests

The county of Västernorrland is arranging an international conference in Sundsvall coming September with the title: Fire and Restoration in Boreal Forests.
Theprogram includes a pre-conference tour on Tuesday 15th September to one of the nature reserves County of Västernorrland, where they have been done major restoration treatments and prescribed burnings.This excursion will focus on the need for prescribed fire, both for stand structure and species. The field trip will put a specific focus on the urgent need for restoration of pine-dominated forest, either with prescribed fire or with selective logging or as in this case a combined management method with both fire and selective loggings.
The actual conference is on Wednesday 16th and Thursday 17th September.
The conference ends on Friday with a post-conference tour to: The High Coast World Heritage Area.

Last day for registration is June 12th 2009.
Conference fee is 1200 SEK ( 111, CAN$ 176, US$ 142).
The conference fee covers attendance, four coffee breaks, two lunches, a conference dinner and conference documentation.
