DUTIES: DEPARTMENT: University of Maryland Department of Geography, working at NASA Goddard Space Flight Centre, Greenbelt MD. A motivated researcher is sought to assist in the analysis of African MODIS burned area products (see http://modis-fire.gsfc.nasa.gov/products.asp) in support of a NASA funded activity lead by Dr. D. Roy. Full-time is preferred, part-time will be considered for an exceptional candidate.

QUALIFICATIONS: The applicant should have a recent PhD in remote sensing or related numerate field and be able to communicate effectively with scientific and technical staff. Experience in the analysis of terrestrial remote sensing data using commercial packages is required. Skills in GIS, African land cover-land use research, spatial statistics, computer modeling, and programming in a Unix/C environment are desirable.
