Japan: International Symposium View of Northeast Asia Forest Fire
Regional Northeast Asia Wildland Fire Network
A Region of the Global Wildland Fire Network
International Symposium View of Northeast Asia Forest Fire from Cosmos
Jointly with the
2nd Regional Northeast Asia Wildland Fire Network Meeting
Sendai, Miyagi, Japan, 17-18 January 2005
The Center for Northeast Asian Studies Tohoku University (CNEAS) will host the International Symposium View of Northeast Asia Forest Fire from Cosmos and the joint 2nd Regional Northeast Asia Wildland Fire Network Meeting.
The CNEAS was founded in 1996, and has had regular research exchanges between Tohoku University and Russian Academy of Science Siberian Branch since then. The VSAT system and the NOAA station are representative results from co-research studies; NOAA data received at Novosibirsk, Sendai and Fairbanks are collected in CNEAS at the image database on real time, and are transferred to the world via internet. These results were presented International Workshop: View of Siberian from NOAA satellite held in August 2000, Sendai, Japan.
Recently, the large Forest Fire are focused on environmental concerns. The transitioning into new technologies for environmental satellite systems will result in significant changes. These will affect all current and future researchers of environmental satellites, particularly those who calculate the burned area from the satellites. The purpose of this Symposium is a continuing effort to study all researchers for Forest Fire.
The purpose of this 2nd Regional Meeting is to continue discussions initiated during the Foundation Meeting of the Regional Northeast Asia Wildland FireNetwork, 5-6 March 2004, at the Korean Forest Research Institute, Seoul, Korea.
