OSCE: First regional Advanced Seminar and Exercise in Wildland Fire Management
This first regional Advanced Seminar in Wildland Fire Management was conducted in Antalya, Turkey, 1-4 March 2010, by the General Directorate of Forestry (Orman Genel Müdürlügü, Ankara) in cooperation with and co-sponsored by Environment and Security Initiative (ENVSEC), the Global Fire Monitoring Center (GFMC) / United Nations University (UNU), Faculty of Forestry, Karadeniz Teknik Üniversitesi, (Trabzon, Turkey), the UNISDR Regional Southeast Europe / Caucasus Wildland Fire Network and the UNECE / FAO Team of Specialists on Forest Fire.

OSCE: Second Regional Fire Management Training and Exercise for the South Caucasus and Western Balkans
The training and exercise were held at the Fire Management Training Center, Antalya, Turkey, 15-17 October 2014, in the frame of the OSCE/ENVSEC project “Enhancing National Capacity on Fire Management and Wildfire Disaster Risk Reduction in the South Caucasus”.

   

NATO and EADRCC
For the first time a large forest fire exercise has been prepared under the auspices of EADRCC. The field exercise “Taming the Dragon – Dalmatia 2002” was a Croatian contribution to the Partnership Work Programme (PWP). The exercise was primarily conducted as a PWP Euro-Atlantic Disaster Response Coordination Centre (EADRCC) and Euro-Atlantic Disaster Response Unit (EADRU) activity. It involved also other existing networks and organizations such as the Disaster Preparedness and Prevention Initiative (DPPI) of the Stability Pact, the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (UNOCHA) and the South East Europe Group (SEEGROUP).

EASTEXFIRE 2005

At theregional “Conference on Forest Fire Management and International Cooperationin Fire Emergencies in the Eastern Mediterranean, Balkans and adjoining Regionsof the Near East and Central Asia” in 2004 an exercise had been planned intandem: The “Eastern European, Near East and Central Asian StatesExercise on Wildland Fire Information and Resources Exchange – EASTEX FIRE2004”. The exercise aimed at exercising international cooperation inmanaging a large-scale forest fire disaster which requires multilateral response(cooperation of ground and aerial fire fighting forces of countries of theEastern Mediterranean, Balkan and adjoining regions of the Near East and CentralAsia).

Due to technical reasonsthe exercise was postponed to 2005 and took place in Haskovo, Bulgaria, 20-22April 2005. Host of EASTEX FIRE 2005 was the Bulgarian Ministry for the Interior,National Fire and Emergency Safety Service.
