USDA launches wildfire prevention project map

USA – The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) launched a new interactive map this month that shows where the Forest Service is working to address America’s wildfire crisis. Eight western states have been added to the map’s initial landscape, and interacting with each project found on the map will show the user its “story”; the aim of each project, how the project is going, and how the project’s completion will reduce the risk of wildfires in the future.

“Western states are living the reality of climate change every day, where record droughts and catastrophic fire threaten lives and livelihoods like we have never seen in our history,” said Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack. “This new resource gives everyone a chance to see the real impacts of the on-the-ground work the USDA Forest Service and its partners have already done to protect the communities and the resources that are most at risk.”
